Back in Nuugaatsiaq, waiting for the helicopter to take us back to Uummannaq, Jane caught up on her reading*.
I love this photo of Jane!

I also loved waiting with the other “passengers”…

But they had no concept of getting in line before boarding the aircraft!

*For the curious among you, Jane is reading Anne McCaffrey’s The White Dragon... again!

New feature… a random sledge of the month. 😉 This one from Nuugaatsiaq! You didn’t know you were missing a random sledge in your life, but hey, my job is to anticipate such needs before you suddenly wonder “where is that random sledge I need?”
It’s all part of the service. 😉

This is Nuugaatsiaq. It has to be one of the prettiest places to live in whole of Greenland. It’s also one of the most dangerous. On June 17, 2017 a landslide slid off a nearby mountain, falling about a kilometre, before crashing into the fjord and sending a tsunami wave that wiped out the settlement of Nuugaatsiaq. Four people lost their lives. The settlement was evacuated, and I believe it is still unpopulated due to fears of further landslides in the area.

In 2008, Jane and I spent three fantastic days in Nuugaatsiaq, and I set much of The Shaman’s House in the settlement. We were in Denmark when the landslide happened, and I remember being very moved by tragic scenes of waves full of mud and ice crashing into the settlement, and houses floating away in the sea.

What happened in Nuugaatsiaq is a stark reminder of living on the edge in Greenland.

Confession… I’ve been busy! Several months and many blog posts ago I mentioned a crazy goal I had of writing a million words this year. Well… that’s not going to happen. What is happening is a simple case of having way too much fun!
I mean, we’re talking waaaaay too much, and I’m loving it!
I am experimenting with ideas, themes, from cosy to carnage, to epic and understated. Yep, just going for it. If you’re interested, you might want to see what’s happening, and I’ve compiled a cunning list of Christoffer Petersen titles coming soon for pre-order during 2022. (I’ve got more stories on the way penned with my different author aliases, but let’s keep it simple, eh?)
Here is the current list of pre-order titles and tentative* release dates for 2022. Some dates are set in stone, others may be adjusted by about 30 days or so. Books marked “Kickstarter” were available for pre-order via Petra’s Kickstarter campaign. If you backed that campaign, please don’t pre-order the stretch award books! (The Sun Dog was an extra, not a reward.) Please be aware, some books are priced at 0.99 while others are full price, even at pre-order.
Okay, the current list! Links take you to the pages for each book on this website.
August 2022
September 2022
October 2022
November 2022
December 2022
And that’s it for 2022 unless I drop a few surprises… which, given the current state of having “waaaay too much fun” is entirely possible! Which reminds me… there are surprises on the way. Kickstarter backers – I’m looking at you! 😉

Apparently, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was a good read. Jane said as much, and then her brother, visiting with their mum, grabbed it before I had a chance.
He wasn’t letting go, even when the dry Greenland air ambushed him.
Just… not… letting… go.
Damnit!
