Here’s another short story release. This project was fun, not least because I made a few giant leaps when getting into the textures of the 3D assets I used for the cover image(s) – plural – I made a few.
The project was also fun because I was given the opportunity to put a dear friend into the action, and, hopefully, stayed true to the person… ahem! the character’s character. 🙂
This is, of course, a Reviver short story. In the not too distant past, I have often been quite apologetic about writing dinosaur stories as a means of getting away from the usual stories, and keeping me fresh for more Greenland novels and novellas. But as I work on the Sherlock Holmes stories (the Kickstarter is still live, but with only a few days left, it could use a little love) I remembered that Arthur Conan Doyle also wrote science fiction, including none other than The Lost World. He also tried to kill Sherlock a few times, but the readers clamoured for more. 🙂
So, no more apologies. I don’t just write the Reviver books for a literary break from the Greenland crime books, I write them because they are a lot of fun. Wilding was a little too much fun, and spiralled out of control and beyond the intended paged count.
It also presents me with a continuity problem.
Recently I had to juggle some projects because Before the Devil Wakes took longer than anticipated. So I cancelled the pre-orders for my less popular books, including most of the dinosaur stories and novels. They actually do far better as modest Kickstarter projects, but because I keep adding another story to the timeline, I have one more story to fit into the timeline, and book 2 in the main series is getting complicated. I don’t even want to think about the plot events and characters that are lining up for books 4, 5 and 6. But a few stories here and there are complicating those plotlines too.
Love it!
It’s a fabulous problem to have. 🙂
But, back to Wilding, I enjoyed writing this critter hunt in California. And if you’re curious, here are the US and UK links to the eBook on Amazon*:
Right, I’m off to make even more problems for myself with even more stories!
