Don’t shoot the messenger… this is a Christmas post! I know, it’s July, but it feel’s like the right time to make a tiny bit of noise about this year’s Christmas Calendar. See, I’m thinking of making a tradition, releasing a Christmas Calendar each year. This could be a knee-jerk reaction to finishing the short term teaching gig, but I’ve got words twitching out of my fingers and “just one more project” felt like the right thing to do.
I have written a few Christmas Calendars already, but this will be the first “Maratse” calendar. 🙂
So, if you’re curious, and you’ve got $1 then you might want to check out the pre-order for The Last Wild Song of Winter, a Christmas Calendar with 24 interconnected stories to be concluded on Christmas Eve 2022.
On a side note, I’m trying to figure out the best way of marketing without a budget, and so I’m going back to the ultra cheap pre-orders followed by full-price from the day of release. So it pays to beat the Christmas rush. You heard it here first. 😉

Yep, I found all the old photos – and the old meat grinder! Perfect for making cookies!
Jane makes them, I just turn the handle.
I know my place.

You might be wondering, what’s with all the domestic chores photos this Christmas? Well, I went hunting for pictures from Greenland in December, and found a tonne of very dark daily life stuff. Like hanging out the washing in -25C. The clothes go stiff the second you hang them up, but when they start to flap in the wind, you know they are dry.
Cold, but dry.
I’ve got another photo somewhere of my underpants on the line, but hey, it’s Christmas – you don’t want to see them!
But you’ve got the image in your head now, haven’t you? 😉
That’s my little gift, from me to you.
Chris
P.S.
It’s dark, of course, because there is no sun, and at this time of the year, there won’t be for another few months.
P.P.S.
This is the back of our house (actually the front, because they built it with the front door facing away from the road). If you keep going straight, past where I’m standing, and then up, you’ll get to the ice cap.
