April in Uummannaq has to be one of the most spectacular months of the year. The sun is – usually – shining, it’s warm despite the cold, and the snow and sea ice is (hopefully) as it should – perfect for sledging.
And life goes on.
Teaching, socialising… feeding the dogs. I cut steps in the snow to make it easier to climb up to the dog yard. Carrying warm water, food, and stuff was heavy work.
Sliding down with an empty bucket or two after a cuddle with Nansen… Well, on a sunny day, it doesn’t get much better than that!
Bonus info… our house is the one with the door open.

Do you miss living in Greeland?
Every day. 🙂
Ever think of going back? To live there permanently, I mean.
I’d love to visit. I’d even consider working in Greenland again. However, the short answer is I can visit but I can’t live there, not without losing my Danish residency. And if I lose that, I have to apply post-Brexit, which isn’t as good as it was pre-Brexit. I won’t bore you with the details, but life would just get increasingly complicated. Sigh.
I see… ah, well. At least you have Maratse to tell you stories about the place. It’s like you never left…
