3D art

More 3D art … for a paperback!

August 14, 2022 by Christoffer Petersen 2 Comments

Crocodile Beat is doing quite well, and seems to have been well received by a lot of readers. I finally got around to creating the paperback cover, and it has been live for a couple of weeks now.

I guess I just wanted to add this to show what I’m doing with all the 3D art. 🙂 It’s all part of the publishing side of writing books, and I love that I’m involved in all aspects. Although, it does take time to get everything done. I have a huge back log of projects to be completed, including paperbacks to be uploaded. Teaching during the first half of the year really slowed me down, but I’m into it now, ticking things off the list, slowly, but surely.

Fan Art!

August 13, 2022 by Christoffer Petersen Leave a Comment

Okay, if 3D art isn’t your thing, then look away now. 🙂 However, if you’re wondering, or even worried about “how I tick”, then this piece of art might explain a few things.

I love “apocalypse stuff”. Yes, I love science fiction books and movies, but a good apocalypse plot in any form is my idea of hours well spent. Yep, Jane’s rolling her eyes right now. I have spent far, far too many hours playing Ubisoft’s Tom Clancy’s The Division. I mean, that video game was made for me. I still spend far too many hours in game, although less of late as I found another way to enjoy the fictional universe in which the game is set. Creating scenes inspired by the game is another way to enjoy it, and to work on my 3D skills.

Did I say fictional?

I’m sorry to say this, but the pandemic the world endured (and continues to endure) came awfully close to depicting aspects of the game, not least the wearing of masks.

Sure, I love action stories, and there’s a lot of action in The Division. Because I know it’s fiction I can just get into it. Although, as the pandemic proved, sometimes the fictional narrative is a little too close to home.

It happens sometimes with my own stories, too. 😉

More fun as I explore the “pet” project.

More art!

May 20, 2022 by Christoffer Petersen Leave a Comment

I know, it’s not quite what you expect from a website predominantly featuring Arctic crime and thrillers, but hey, embracing diversity and all that … I am exploring my interest in 3D art, or rather graphic design, as that is what it is – putting all the pieces together and fiddling with the contrast, brightness, filters and what not.

Actually, it’s the what not that often gives the best result (seen through my eyes, anyway) when something unexpected turns out far better than expected.

I’m still exploring book covers, but sometimes I just play around with a piece of art for the sake of it. More of that later.

I still want to write a story for every bit of art or potential cover I create, but that’s going to have to wait for when I have more time. I’m guessing there will be a small explosion of writing once I stop teaching. 🙂

That was your early story storm warning.

Taking a break from reality!

May 15, 2022 by Christoffer Petersen Leave a Comment

I’m still working on my 3D art. Like it or loathe it, I’m posting it! 🙂

There’s a learning curve, and this lesson was all about figuring out the three light setup. I’ve never really thought about it before, but I like the results. Now, if I can just convince myself not to write a story for this picture, I might even make it into a cover!

Might.

I know …

… hopeless. 😉

Fall Stories

April 14, 2022 by Christoffer Petersen 2 Comments

Turns out the art I was going to post “later” popped in today. 🙂

I needed a gentle scene with all the turmoil in the world right now.
