Apocalyptic Art series: Knightmare

March 12, 2023 by Christoffer Petersen Leave a Comment

My second piece of apocalyptic art is called “Knightmare” and may or may not be inspired by the fact that I am consistently losing chess games at the moment. I mean, every single game, unless my opponent resigns or loses connection.

Knightmare continues my apocalyptic storytelling without words.

Apocalyptic Art series: Daydream Matinee

March 8, 2023 by Christoffer Petersen Leave a Comment

I may have mentioned that 3D art is becoming more and more central in my storytelling. I might have mentioned that a few times. 🙂 Recently, I’ve been playing around with telling stories without words. It’s kind of crazy for an author to not write, but I’m having so much fun composing images (using 3D assets) that I’ve started on a series, following the same character as she introduces us to her apocalyptic world.

Confession, dystopian apocalyptic (with or without zombies) is one of my favourite genres to watch and read.

This piece is called “Daydream Matinee”.

About those dinosaurs…

The Reviver Kickstarter campaign is going well meaning that the dinosaurs are coming!

If you’re curious, feel free to check it out. Twenty-six days left! 😉

Rogue Art!

November 24, 2022 by Christoffer Petersen Leave a Comment

On the recommendations on my dad (the real one, not the dead one!) I just binge watched Rogue Heroes. I loved it, and, apparently, it was just what I needed after several months writing about cold places. 😉 It also took me back to my childhood, and my obsession with all things SAS. The one good thing my dead dad did was arrange for me to have a guided tour of Bradbury Lines, the SAS base in Hereford. It was 1984. I was eleven, and the base got it’s new name Stirling Lines in the same year. I walked around the base with my eyes on stalks, saw one of the desert Pink Panther vehicles, visited the captured weapons armoury and the amazing swimming pool with sides shaped like a submarine and a serious wave machine. It’s funny, we take photos all the time these days, but obviously I didn’t on the base, I don’t think I even owned a camera, but I can remember everything.

I was born in Hereford – spoiler alert: if you didn’t already know, I am not Danish. My parents knew a few SAS soldiers, and there are plenty of stories about bachelor parties, evenings out snatched between anti-terrorism ops, and even a bit of speech therapy. I remember playing with a few of their kids, and being terrified. It didn’t surprise me that those kids would later join the SAS.

I’m not nearly tough enough for that. I mean … just no.

But I had fun with putting together some 3D art. I’m still learning, but the inspiration is coming thick and fast! As for the jeep – yeah, I’m still fiddling with the jeep – but just had to include an image of the base model for reference. Wait? Should I be writing? 😉

Too much fun!

More 3D art … for a paperback!

August 14, 2022 by Christoffer Petersen 2 Comments

Crocodile Beat is doing quite well, and seems to have been well received by a lot of readers. I finally got around to creating the paperback cover, and it has been live for a couple of weeks now.

I guess I just wanted to add this to show what I’m doing with all the 3D art. 🙂 It’s all part of the publishing side of writing books, and I love that I’m involved in all aspects. Although, it does take time to get everything done. I have a huge back log of projects to be completed, including paperbacks to be uploaded. Teaching during the first half of the year really slowed me down, but I’m into it now, ticking things off the list, slowly, but surely.

Fan Art!

August 13, 2022 by Christoffer Petersen Leave a Comment

Okay, if 3D art isn’t your thing, then look away now. 🙂 However, if you’re wondering, or even worried about “how I tick”, then this piece of art might explain a few things.

I love “apocalypse stuff”. Yes, I love science fiction books and movies, but a good apocalypse plot in any form is my idea of hours well spent. Yep, Jane’s rolling her eyes right now. I have spent far, far too many hours playing Ubisoft’s Tom Clancy’s The Division. I mean, that video game was made for me. I still spend far too many hours in game, although less of late as I found another way to enjoy the fictional universe in which the game is set. Creating scenes inspired by the game is another way to enjoy it, and to work on my 3D skills.

Did I say fictional?

I’m sorry to say this, but the pandemic the world endured (and continues to endure) came awfully close to depicting aspects of the game, not least the wearing of masks.

Sure, I love action stories, and there’s a lot of action in The Division. Because I know it’s fiction I can just get into it. Although, as the pandemic proved, sometimes the fictional narrative is a little too close to home.

It happens sometimes with my own stories, too. 😉
