Just exploring before the ice disappeared in June, 2011.

Only, I was on foot! 😉

Out and about in Upernavik. Far to the north of Uummannaq. June, 2012.

There’s no ice, but the snow isn’t quite ready to melt away yet.

There’s that classic Greenland melt water running along the streets though. Word to the wise, don’t step in it. This is a sledge dog district. 😉

I love this house! I just love all the wooden steps, decks, and ladders etc.

Recently, I posted that the novella that should have been released just wasn’t ready. I’m still working on Truck Stop Blues. Fast cars are a central theme to the story, and it occurred to me that I have spent far more time in boats (of all sizes) than I have in cars. Sure, I’ve probably spent more time in a car during my lifetime, but I have been more engaged as a user of boats, i.e. not just a passenger. From working rescue boats on lakes and rivers, to canoeing in the wilds, kayaking with whales among icebergs, and just generally messing about in boats, I’ve been on the water a lot. So, I shouldn’t have been surprised at my latest attempt at 3D art as it just came naturally.
It’s also my response to the current deluge of AI art flooding the 3D art galleries at the moment. Sure, I understand there is some skill involved in writing specific text prompts to get the result the “artist” is looking for, but there’s still the underlying problem of getting results based on art stolen from artists all over the world to feed the AI beasts that regurgitate it.
I still don’t consider myself an artist, and I’m not sure I can call myself a graphic designer, but to get the original image (below), I tweaked everything in the image, having paid (important) the artists of each asset for the right to use it and then combining and compiling them according to my muse.

Once I had the image, I then ran it through Photoshop, adding colour filters, changing light and contrast, adding noise (I love noise!) a touch of film grain, more filters, more contrast, less contrast… you get the picture, and this (top image) is the picture I got.
And so, back to the boats.
I’ve spent a lot of time in boats, even had a few close calls, but, fortunately, never been in the above situation, and don’t intend to try it either. 😉

Yeah, not so much!

Good rewards though! And apparently – looking at the notebook – I had to “remember the plot”. I’m pretty sure Jane thought I had lost the proverbial plot when suggesting a refreshing walk on the beach!

This is more of a “get off your arse, kid” post to remind me that I am behind on the paddling schedule. I need to get out on the water more. Photos from this little trip back in 2018 in Sweden are motivational. I need to get on the back on the proverbial horse!

Or in the canoe, for that matter! And, yes, our camps often look like a small hardware store has exploded. we never leave anything behind though. 😉

I’ve posted this before, at least once. But here it is again! Love those clouds!
