I’ll just say it. I miss this.

Greenland was my backyard for a while.

And it was truly amazing!

Sorry, but it needed to be done. Lots of colour!
And, if I allow myself a little indulgent optimism, I mean, this is a TV series waiting to happen! 😉

Nope, it’s not a super secret uboat in my back garden, but 10 years ago we added a solo canoe to the fleet! Ten years? It’s crazy. What’s also crazy is that I really haven’t paddled enough these past 10 years. Yes, okay, we did spend some time on the Yukon River, but the super-secret-boat-in-the-back-garden was not involved.
Nor did we take it to Sweden or Finland.
Being a solo boat, it was problematic at best. 🙂

However, 10 years later, I need to get my boat out on the water!

P.S.
After getting my days wrong, The Hero of the North is out today. 🙂
Here’s that shameless link to Amazon one more time.

On this day back in 2010 I was in Kullorsuaq, one of the settlements in Upernavik. It’s also known as The Devil’s Thumb, on account of that big bit of rock sticking up from the island (see below). The settlement is in the foreground.

However, the subject of this short post is less about the settlement and more about the origin of the covers I use for the Greenland Missing Persons series. I used the top photo for the cover of The Blood Bandit, added more sky, and then played around with colour filters and the all important “invert” button. 🙂

I rather like the result, and I’m very fond of the story. So if you need a quick Petra and Luui fix, here’s that shameless link to The Blood Bandit. Yeah, I know, I can’t help myself!

The Hero of the North is out today! And this is… Wait for it… drumroll (and it’s a long one!) The Hero of the North is number 27 in the Greenland Missing Persons series! Never thought I’d get here, but damn it’s been fun. 🙂
There are, of course, more on the way.
Here’s the book page, and that shameless Amazon link!

EDIT 28.05.2024
Oops. I’m 2 days early! The Hero of the North comes out on May 30th. 🙂

This is Upernavik Airport. It’s also known as the aircraft carrier as they blew the top off the mountain to build the runway, and, in some photos, you might be forgiven for thinking you’re on a carrier!

Love it!
