I mentioned the videos we made in an earlier post. I had to be creative to encourage and support English language learning in Greenland, and at the top of the world especially so. So we plotted stories, wrote the scripts, and then filmed them. It was a lot of fun, and after I stayed up all night editing the video – hard to sleep with 24 hour sunlight – we could watch the videos the next day.

Meanwhile, the Danish navy was “just checking in” and doing their whole sovereignty thing. 😉

What fun that must have been (the creative videos, not the Danish patrols!)! You would have been my favorite teacher! 😀
We had fun. Here’s a link to the blog I made when working in Qaanaaq. I don’t manage it anymore, so it’s pretty dead, but you can see what we got up to. 🙂 https://takuukqaanaaq.blogspot.com/
WOW!! What great pictures and videos . . and MEMORIES!! I especially admired the Ballon Boat racing, the Igloo-building, the internal organs artistry on Nivi . . and ESPECIALLY the stop-motion animation experiment!! Those kids will remember the fun you brought to their lives FOREVER!! Bravo!! 👏. Thanks for sharing your classroom blog!
Thanks, Dave. The kids are “all growed up” now, but I like to think they can look back on those days and smile. We had fun. It was hard work, but I felt like I made at least a bit of a difference. Lots of good memories! 🙂
