It’s not all fun and games when you’ve got 13 sledge dogs! I may have mentioned the trials of bringing water up and down the mountainside when the dogs were “parked” on the sea ice, but there was plenty to be done at the house, too. The shed on the side of the house was ground zero and full of assorted foodstuffs. Hmm, in a very SE7ENesque moment, don’t ask “What’s in the [bucket]?” You really don’t want to know. (Okay, I’ll tell you after the photos!)
If the dogs had dried food, then I would soak it in warm water, filling the shower section of the tiny bathroom with buckets. Jane loved me for it! 😉 But we varied the dogs’ diet with frozen fish remains, often dried fish heads, and whatever else we – or the dogs – could get our paws on!
As for the contents of the bucket?
Halibut sides and a seal head.
Sorry.
Chris
Bonus info – the metal bucket behind the bag of Arktis dog food is our spare toilet. 😉 Just think of it as the guest bathroom!
