I warned you about the deluge of kayaking photos coming your way. Remember? I did. Honestly. Well, I’ll start you off gently, as gentle paddling was what we did at the end of May when there was still plenty of ice about.
These colours though – I’m not manipulating the photos at all. It’s like everything else about Greenland – a land of contrasts and opposites. I always found it odd to think I had been running dogs across the ice where I was suddenly sitting in my kayak.
Damn, I miss it!
I’ll just have to go and write another book!
Chris
It’s a tough life!!
Blimey,it looks spectacular. Not jealous or anything ☹🤣
Thanks, Graham. 🙂
These pics are gorgeous! The colours are amazing Chris! What was the temperature when you were out on the water? 😊
Thanks, Kay. Erm, I think the air temperature was about 16 Celsius, but the water temperature was around 0. Unfortunately, you have to dress for the water temperature, which means a drysuit and gloves!
Now we know why you love it so much — we had our first kayaking experience a few days ago, and now Jill and i can’t wait to do it again! We had harbor seals teasing us, sea lions bellowing at us, and a raft of back-floating sea otters that joined us for a while! It was fantastic!
Dave, that sounds like a fantastic first trip. I can only repeat Graham’s comment of “not jealous at all!” You’ve got the bug now. 🙂 I hope you took lots of photos!
It was indeed a fantastic initiation! Unfortunately the only drawback was that we were surrounded by moored (and in several cases, derelict) yachts and Chinese junks (!) rather than your gorgeous icebergs! Jill had the only camera, but couldn’t quite navigate getting it out of her ‘dry bag’ without losing her oar! Our memories of the day are happily strong!
Yachts and junks, eh. Curious. Photos are good. Memories are better. 🙂
