Default is on! And, quite frankly, my dear, we are screwed!
That’s basically the gist of the posts I have planned for Terminator Tuesday. I am a creator, or, as some say, a creative. I create. So, apparently, does Artificial Intelligence (AI). But it only creates a copy of what it’s been fed, and feeding that monster has, to date, blatantly ignored the copyright attributed to the original content creators. The boffins and billionaires of Big Tech continue to line their pockets with applications built upon the work of others, work they have stolen. Artists, translators, editors, narrators, and writers of all description (to name but a few creative professions) have been hammered by AI and seen their jobs replaced by a bot.
A f***ing bot!
Yes, I’m angry. And yes, Terminator Tuesday posts will reflect that. But I also hope to find the light, and the stories of people – that would be humans – pushing back against Big Tech, stopping the scrape (e.g. all digital content on the web, and digging in.
AI has been dubbed our last invention and I think there’s more than a shred of truth to that. I think we’re at war, we just don’t know it yet. AI has been unleashed, in a multitude of forms, and it’s getting collectively smarter.
Should we be worried?
Yes.
Should you read my Terminator Tuesday posts?
Only if you’re interested.
There might be some rants, but also plenty of resistance.
I have to say though, seen from a non-creative aspect, I find the whole AI debate and development fascinating. And I’ll try to take that angle too.
Until next Tuesday… Stop the Scrape! Resist! etc. etc.
Chris

Let’s hope RESISTANCE is NOT futile! 🤔
I think, unfortunately, much of it is futile. But, hey, Seven of Nine proved we can turn things around, did she not? Yep, Jane’s a Trekkie, and I got sucked in! 😉
Same at our house!! Jill had a crush on Spock in Middle School, then on Patrick Stewart years later, and I went along for the ride! (but not the crushes!) 😁
Patrick Stewart is fantastic! But, being a bit of a Star Wars fan, I do enjoy the newer Star Trek films with Chris Pine as Kirk. Lovely lens flare in almost every scene! 🙂
