Way back when (pre-Greenland) we had a van! It wasn’t quite “van life” and it sure wasn’t completely legal, meaning you’re not allowed to sleep in a vehicle with yellow plates in Denmark, but we had a camper van of sorts.
The nieces and nephew were quite a lot younger back then, and spent a day finger painting the inside. We also had glow-in-the-dark stars stuck to the black roof. However, they became shooting stars one winter, cascading on top of us as we shivered through the night – somewhere in Sweden, I think!
We kitted it out for adventures, with a raised bed and the folding canoe parted out into cavities beneath the bed.
We drove to the Arctic one year, and explored the National Park close to Gällivare, Sweden, which happens to be the same distance from our house as it is to Kyiv, Ukraine.
And I think the photo above is from the famous night of shooting stars, also in Sweden. We’re still picking stars out of our outdoor gear!
I miss that van!
Meanwhile, in Greenland, it’s Day 23 in A Dog called Blitzen on Patreon!
