The first bear Jane and i encountered on the Yukon River caught us napping. Naked and napping, as it crashed through the forest and thundered onto the beach. I stuck my head out of the tent to see a brown bear inspecting our gear before lumbering off along the beach.
I was naked.
I guess it was too much.
There were other bears, but the bear just around the corner was the one that surprised us the most. I still feel bad about making it rush up the side of the cliff – something it did with ease, reminding me we were never going to outclimb a bear – it would be better to be naked.
Not entirely sure about that.
Anyway, I digress – one track mind and all that.
This is a bear.
(Focus, kid! Focus!)
The bear around the corner.
