Advent News on 1st Advent!

If you’ve been following my blog or reading my stories, you’ll know I like to mix things up, try new things, and experiment. So it might not be so surprising to know I’m trying something new, again. Actually, it’s newish as I have done this before.

But if the blog images haven’t given it away, then I’ll just come right out and tell you that this December, for the twenty-four days up to and including Christmas Eve, I will be posting an episode of Northwind here on the blog.

And what is Northwind?

Well, this is a teaser, so you’ll find out more tomorrow.

See what I did there? I want you to come back tomorrow, and the next day, and the next, for the whole of December!

Muhahaha!

Yep, it’s world domination time.

Or, hopefully, it’s just a fun episodic story to help you through the month of December. Given the state of the world, we need it. So this is my humble contribution.

I did try this at the beginning of last year, i.e. writing a chapter a day of a book project. That didn’t work out. But I’ve been blogging every day for over a year now. It almost feels like I’ve been training for this for a year.

Almost.

But I’m ready…

There will be a few typos in the daily episodes – those I missed, and those I left in to “help” anyone making a pirate copy of Northwind (even at my level, it happens – but everything will be tidied and squeaky clean for the paid release scheduled for December 25th. 😉

Luui 2.0

Last year I really got into 3D art. One year later, and I feel as though I’ve come a long way. It’s like all the skills I’m learning in the indie publishing world, I feel like I take a colossal leap forward, and then slide back down the learning curve to start all over again. It’s pretty much the same when learning a language as an adult. I still have many plateaus with Danish, just when I feel like I’m getting the hang of yet another point of grammar, or pronunciation, I end up on a plateau with no real development.

I think it’s the brain digesting.

That’s what I think.

And it’s the same with my attempts at 3D art. Luui 2.0 (adult Luui from the Christmas stories) is the exact same model (albeit with different hair and wardrobe) I used for Luui 1.0, but with better lighting, and posing, a little bit of asymmetrical adjustments, and there’s that giant leap. It’s the lighting, mostly. Amazing what you can achieve with three spotlights!

Previously, I might have been tempted to go back and change the model on the old cover. But not this time. I like seeing the progression and look forward to working with Luui 3.0 sometime in the future.

Not right now though.

I really like the new Luui.
