The Greenland Crime Series

The Greenland Crime Series happened by accident. I wrote a trilogy of Arctic thrillers set in Greenland with Konstabel Fenna Brongaard as the lead character. A supporting character in that series was a Greenlandic police constable by the name of David Maratse. In his own unassuming way he became the lead character in my first crime book: Seven Graves, One Winter. It was a bit of an experiment – for him and me, in that I thought I would only ever write action thrillers.

However, since publishing Seven Graves, One Winter, my author career and Maratse’s police career has exploded, with over twenty novellas and five full-length novels featuring David Maratse in the role of lead character.

Seven Graves, One Winter and the sequels have been bought by foreign publishers for translation, and the series has spawned several spin-offs with characters such as Petra “Piitalaat” Jensen getting their own series, including the Greenland Missing Persons novellas and the Dark Advent novels.

The Greenland Crime series and spin-offs have been praised for the characters, culture and the harsh environment typical of Greenland.

To date, the series includes the following novels, with more on the way:

The Greenland Manifesto – working title

Greenland Missing Persons #6 (XXX pages)

Following on from the events of Whale Heart, the plot will feature recurring characters and continue the character arcs begun in Seven Graves, One Winter and through the existing series.

The Greenland Manifesto will be the sixth novel-length story to feature retired Greenland police constable David Maratse.
