I never really imagined I would ever be teaching igloo building, but that’s what we did in the month of March in Qaanaaq. The handsome fella in the background has to be the best teacher I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. And the kids were the wildest, most fantastic, adventurous, and energetic kids I’ve ever known. #luui They must be in their 20s now.
But, back to the igloo building… Having never built one before, I figured we just needed snow, and lots of it. So we got busy with saws and shovels! In the background you can see drying racks for fish, and some sledges.
As for the finished igloo… we may just have “borrowed” the older kids’ igloo for the photoshoot! 😉 More fishing racks in the background, and behind them… the Greenland ice sheet.
