Reading Order

A work in progress!

I’ve been meaning to compile a reading order for my books and stories for quite some time. Many readers have asked for it, often indicating they would even settle for just a hint at a reading order. Yes, some exasperation there! The problem is that I write these stories, novellas, and novels as I think about them. Literally, I get a lot of those “what if?” and “wouldn’t it be fun to…” moments. This takes me back and forth in time, I’m beginning to lose track of when I buried one character, only to open up a new thread with a germ of a story that grew out of a funeral.

Yeah… I know.

Focus!

However, with a caveat that this page will be regularly updated, I’ve given it my best shot. However, I have (so far) limited it to just two main characters: Maratse and Petra. So, deep breath, here we go.

Ah… one more thing…

Before the list begins… a problem: the Guerrilla Greenland series is set in an alternative timeline. I would probably squeeze that series in between The Ice Star and Seven Graves, One Winter. I have previously avoided a reading order for these stories, but the series is growing, and I have now (June, 2022) added the reading list at the bottom of this page.

Also, this list is chronological, charting Maratse’s life. It pays no attention to publication dates. I’m also running a bit behind with the links. All but the books marked coming soon! are available.

While Maratse is a firm favourite, Petra is becoming increasingly popular, with a lot of crossover between the stories. I’m very fond of her, and seem to find more and more excuses to write more books about her. She’s more difficult though, as she has had a career in the Greenland police, starting at the academy, and working her way up to commissioner. I’ve tried to split up her reading order accordingly. However, Petra has an even murkier past than Maratse, and I know there will be more stories (soon-ish) to delve into that. Oh, and she’s also getting ready to star in a Polarpol novel.
