Going Indie

I’m proud to be an Indie Author, i.e. an independently published author.

Times have changed, and the traditional world of publishing has changed too, and in many ways the industry is trying to keep up with indie authors as the publishing landscape shifts dramatically.

Before I took the plunge to independently publish my first book, I went back to school and studied for a Master of Arts in Professional Writing. That degree combined with the generous nature of indies sharing their experiences of publishing has supported my journey, and has opened lots of other doors.

While I have never submitted a manuscript to an agent or publisher prior to independently publishing it, I do now have an agent – two different agencies, actually – and can now call myself a “hybrid” author: independently publishing my original works in English, while being represented by an agency for translation and middle grade/young adult fiction.

Being an indie is not the easiest path, and that’s why I joined the Alliance of Independent Authors (ALLi) – basically to get professional and peer support from a network of indie authors. If you’d like to know more, feel free to click the affiliate link on the image below.
