Chris Paton is me. The real me. I’m the one who took a Master of Arts in Professional Writing at Falmouth University. And I’m the one who ignored the advice of my peers, my lecturers, and the final grade with distinction I got for my work on my Greenland thriller The Ice Star, and threw caution to the wind to write Steampunk. I avoided everything to do with Greenland, the Arctic, and crime novels, to write fun and fantastical stories about big robots running on steam and a little bit of magic.
I had fun, wrote a series of books, and sold … yeah, not so much. But it was the beginning of my writing career, and I’m rather fond of the characters of Hari, Jamie, and Luise, plus the big lumbering emissary itself. The series spawned some spin-off novellas, and I have plans to write more Steampunk soon.
Chris – that’s still me – also wrote a few myth and fantasy stories set in Greenland. The Bear Hunt was originally called Arnannguaq’s Prize – later published as Christoffer Petersen. It was the story that got me into Falmouth. The other stories set in Greenland are the raven stories (see below).
I’ll link to more books here as and when I add them to the website.
