We returned to Denmark from Alaska in late September, following a short stop with my parents in England. I wrote The Starlighter on a train, in a plane, and at my late grandma’s kitchen table. Then, back home in the world’s crappiest apartment (the worst we ever lived in, anyway) I started editing.
The Starlighter (shameless link) has had a traumatic publishing history, with a lot of stops and starts, then flank speed! Followed by a all stop, dead stop.
It remains one of my favourite stories and I shed a tear or two on every reread!
Chris
Oh, and the photo? My desk during the dark Danish month of October!
I agree – The Starlighter is such a heart-warming story about the power of positivity!
Thanks, Isabella! You’ve known The Starlighter from the very beginning. 🙂
One of my favorites, too, Chris! Vividlymemorable! And I love that cover — did you design that?
Thanks, Dave. 🙂 The original cover was a commission I paid for from an artist called Nicole Cardiff. I love it, but could never really get it to work. But then, The Starlighter has been plagued with publishing issues. I think the only thing to do is write the sequel! I have rough notes… somewhere. 😉
Oh! Go for it!
I’d certainly like to. 🙂
