This might not be very exciting, but putting this together changed everything! I’ve mentioned that it was law to keep adult sledge dogs on chains in the sledge dog districts of Greenland. The council would bore a deep(ish) hole in the rock into which I hammered wood until it was snug. Then I hammered a loop into the wood. The picture above is the metal swivels and links that I attached to the loop – far right. Then I attached two chains, one to each of the swivels (I really don’t know what they are called) on the far left of the picture.
It took me a month of untangling chains to figure this out, but, basically, as many moving parts as possible is the key to happy dogs and happy me! Everything has to be free to turn!
Dogs turn a lot.
