Algorithms! That’s my excuse, and I’m sticking with it! Alternatively, I could just confess and say I love fantasy books. I simply can’t write crime and thriller books all the time. I need to shake it up a little, and what better way to do that than to write in a completely different genre. Yes, I’ve done this a lot, but this time I’m planting my literary feet right in the middle of the world of mythical beasts and creatures. I’m doing so with another Welsh pen name to further embrace the Welsh blood in my veins. Oh, and to confound the algorithms!
As an aside, it’s curious… I’ve never done well at maths and it haunts me. Whoever thought algorithms were a good idea, never thought to ask. Just saying!
Anyway, revealing Iago Jones and his books in this post, will also reveal a few more stories that I have written, published, and hidden from the world – not intentionally. Well, actually, maybe intentionally. However, here they are with links to:
If you’re here for the Greenland crime and thrillers because you read crime and thriller books, then let’s just agree that these stories probably aren’t for you. 😉
Chris
Pretty covers. I don’t usually read thrillers/crime but I liked your Greenland setting and read the Greenland Missing Persons stories (they are fun and light). I would love your centaur stories because SF/F is my usual fiction reading matter, only I’ve run out of motivation for never ending series. 🙁
Since you are an author and self-publish, I thought you might find this article (and the comments) interesting: https://www.tor.com/2022/04/28/is-series-fatigue-real/
Thanks for the link, Elentarri! I had a quick look and I’ll read it after writing this. I know exactly what you mean about “never ending series”. Sure, that sounds crazy when I am effectively writing a never ending series of Greenland books, although I see them as connected episodes. 🙂 Authors can get trapped in a series, fuelled by readers’ positive comments, or forced by traditional publishing contracts. I want to write “epic fantasy”, but as books are my sole source of income (apart from the recent short stint as a teacher), I need to keep the Maratse and Petra train rolling. I do enjoy the characters, the books, and I have a lot of fun with them, but to keep having fun I need something completely different. But so far the stories are short, snatched here and there between the Greenland projects. However, I am writing a longer work, and I like where it is going. Thanks again for your comment. If you’re looking for something new which does have an end, then you might like “Perdido Street Station” by China Miéville is suitably long, weird, and original. There are three big books in the series. They are connected, but not in a typical series way. Very weird though. But fabulous reading!
